HORSE RIDING

For nature and horses lovers, we can offer riding in the beautiful Mountains of Leon, El Bierzo, La Maragateria and the Way of Saint James. Our horses are trained for all levels, and even if it is your first time on horseback, you will enjoy the trails. All rides are guided.

Here we give a brief explanation of some few tours and trails, but you are free to suggest your own to your liking...

Paseando en el valle

Horse riding in Rabanal del Camino

Rabanal del Camino has for its privileged situation many possibilities of enjoying beautiful and varied landscapes. You can go up the mountains towards Foncebadon and contemplate the panoramic views of the plateau and the surrounding mountains, or go down to the beautiful valleys and meadows between Rabanal and La Maluenga: Walking along the valleys, enjoying the green surroundings, it is easy finding roe deer's, foxes, hares and wild boars in the way. Following the stream of we can contemplate old water mills. Riding up we will get to the beautiful villages La Maluenga and Rabanal Viejo. Near is La Fucarona, there is a water deposit constructed by the Romans.

Cascada de la Fervencia

Horseride to the waterfall in Fervencia

We will leave Rabanal del Camino between oaks and pines forests in direction towards Fonfria by the high part of the mountain. After about an hour ride we will find a winding trail down that takes us to the cascade of the Fervencia, well known in the region as La Molina (the mill). Going down the change in the nature is appraised, that turns greener, the oaks changes into some fir and chestnut tree, and a stream throughout accompanies us on the way to the Cascade. In returning we will pass through La Maluenga. Duration 3 hours

Matavenero

Horseride to Foncebadón - Matavenero - Poibueno

We will ride to Foncebadon, village located in the Way of Saint James on 1300 ms of height, and from here we will go down to Matavenero, a wonderful village unreachable by car. Here you will find alternative living and ecological products. We will rest for lunch, and then we will ride down to the river. Here we will find Poibueno with the old ruins of its church. The return we will make through Fonfria when the terrain makes it possible, if not we will go back passing Foncebadon again. Duration 6 hours.
